Meet Our Team - Sleephaven Sleep Consultation: Helping Tired Families Sleep

Meet our Team

As Registered Occupational Therapists (O.T.), we help children develop skills for living a full and independent life – including sleeping! An O.T. is regulated by a provincial body to ensure that clients receive safe and professional services.

Margot Byer

Margot is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist who has over 30 years of experience working with children of all shapes and sizes in homes, hospitals and schools. She has seen the impact of sleep deprivation on both children and their exhausted parents. Naturally curious with a love of learning, Margot completed the Gentle Sleep Coach program with Kim West and founded Sleephaven Sleep Consultation in 2012. She’s had the privilege of helping hundreds of tired families sleep since then! Margot continues to learn about sleep every chance she gets and appreciates her connection with the worldwide Gentle Sleep Coach community.

April Monkman-Lees

One of the first things you’ll notice about April is that she loves kids! She began her career as an early childhood educator, and moved on to work for many years with children as an Occupational Therapist in both homes and schools. Wherever she worked, April observed how lack of sleep took its toll on children and their families, and that sleep was often a parent’s top priority when receiving services. She developed a deep desire to offer more specialized knowledge to families. As a result, April pursued further education through the extensive Gentle Sleep Coach training program and joined the Sleephaven team in 2017. Her goal: to provide expertise and excellence in care to support tired families.

Janine Oldham

In over 9 years as an Occupational Therapist, Janine has helped adults with a wide variety of complex physical injuries and resulting social and emotional fallout. Their strength and resilience in coping with life changing injuries has been inspiring. Janine has also supported young children in the classroom, working closely with parents and the educational team to foster each child’s success. Her personal experience of prolonged sleep deprivation after the birth of her second child left her with a desire to learn more about sleep and a profound empathy for parents going through a similar struggle. Janine completed the Gentle Sleep Coach training program and joined the Sleephaven team in 2017. Her favorite part of being a Gentle Sleep Coach? Celebrating with well-rested families!
